Activities 

 

The following are the activities accomplished by the Center for Child Rights with the financial support of UNICEF:

  • Mapping the Standards of Government-run-observation Homes in State of Jharkhand. As part of this activity following actions have been carried out:
    • Seminar – I: Capacity development on the minimum standard of care in institutions (two days training of the student researchers, faculty members of the Center)
    • Identifying status of minimum standard of care in Government-run-Homes [two days visit to each observation home situated in ten districts of State of Jharkhand by one faculty member of the Center along with two student researchers – Ranchi, Deogarh, Bokaro, Dhanbad, Dumka, Hazaribagh, Jamshedpur, Chaibasa, Gumla, Simdega]
    • Seminar – II: Refreshment & review meeting of the inspection report prepared by the researchers and inspection committee
    • Final Report submitted to the Government of Jharkhand
  • Module prepared by students of NUSRL on Child Marriage for para-legal volunteers and First Class judicial magistrates with chapter on understanding the child psychology
  • Module prepared by students of NUSRL on JJ Act for students of NLU, legal aid lawyers, CWC and JJB
  • 8thMay, 2018 – State level orientation on Alternative Family based care and dissemination of the foster care and sponsorship guidelines in partnership with DWCD held at BNR Chanakya Residency, Ranchi.
  • 2ndJune, 2018 State level workshop for capacity development of JJ functionaries and Center for Child Rights (NUSRL), held at Jharkhand Judicial Academy, Ranchi.
  • 2nd– 5thJuly, 2018 TOT [Training of Training] Master trainers in Police held at CID Ranchi
  • 6th– 10thAugust, 2018 Training of Chairperson and Members of CWCs held at Judicial Academy Jharkhand, Ranchi.
  • 3rd& 4thSeptember, 2018 Training of JJB members held at Hotel Le Lac.
  • 3rdNovember 2018 one day training and review meeting held at [Jharkhand Legal Services Authority] JHALSA, Ranchi.

 

The following activities have been initiated by the Center with the financial support of UNICEF:
  • Preparation of report on the output of various training programs being organized in last three years for CWC, JJB, DCPU, SJPU and CCIs and development of framework and report on infrastructural status of CWC, JJB and DCPU
  • Developing six months ‘Diploma Course on Child Protection & Law’ for CWC, JJB, DCPU and SJPU of State of Jharkhand [Course Plan, Academic Calendar and identification of experts]
  • Developing customized training modules for SJPU and DCPUs
  • Training DLSA monitoring Committee of State of Jharkhand
  • Developing a cadre of Master trainers and nurture state and district mentors by conducting State level ToT [Training of Trainers] of Master Trainers from different Government Training Institutes of State of Jharkhand
  • Liasoning with RINPAS [Ranchi Institute of Neuro-Psychiatray& Allied Sciences]/CIP [Central Institute of Psychiatry] to develop a cadre of counselors in the State
  • Liasoning with Police training Centres/academy, SIRD, ATI, CTI/PTI, Judicial Academy, medical and other training institutes to institutionalize child protection related trainings and support the trainers of these training institutes by orienting them on the module developed & monthly review meetings with the Master Trainers
  • Organizing capacity development program in collaboration with other training academies/center and the respective government departments
  • Conducting need assessment of staffs of Tribal Ashramshayas and NGO run Home Minimum Standard of care and protection

CHILD RIGHTS WEEK – CHAUWA 19TH – 24TH NOVEMBER 2018

Center for Child Rights (CCR) of National University of Study and Research in Law, RANCHI in collaboration with UNICEF celebrated “Child Rights Week – CHAUWA” from 19th – 24th November, 2018 on the occasion of International Child Rights Day (20th of November).

During this week, student members of the Center carried the following activities:

During the visit to ‘Gurunanak Home for Handicapped Children’ and ‘Premashraya – Shelter Home for Girls’, they distributed hygiene kits and drawing kits. The visit was led by the Technical Consultants, Mrs.Vijeta Singh and Mr.Santhi Bhushan. During the visit, Student Secretary of Center for Child Rights, Mr.Pratikesh Shankar, along with other members, Mr.Piyush, Ms.Pragya Rakshita, Ms.Purvi Neema, Ms.Priya, Ms.Shivani Shubhangi, Mr.Priyanshu, Ms.Anumeha, Ms.Sanya, Ms.Shilpi, Ms.Mujeeb and Ms.Ayushi and other members were also present.

This event was mentored and supported by Mr. Gautam Kr. Chaudhary, Vice-Chancellor (I/c), Center Head Dr. K. Syamala, along with other faculty members Mr. Shubham Srivastava, Ms. Raabia Abuzer, Mrs. Priti Srivastava and other members of University and UNICEF.
